Which essay did you like best? Make sure to explain/support your answer.
For me, I really enjoyed the 51% minority essay. I think that because I could maybe relate to the main idea. The photograph that introduced the topic caught my eye and had great effect, as it was very strong and full of the ugly truth. The essay itself was very well structured and Anderson got her point across really well. The problem of gender discrimination is well-known and a controversy around the world; some might even say it is talked about too much. Yet, this author is able to keep the topic interesting. She says at one point, "Women make up 51 percent of the population of this country. Think of the kind of clout they could have if they used it at the polls." This exemplifies the fact that women make up a larger proportion of the world and yet they are treated as near to nothing. Why is it that the ones who, most of the time are more intelligent than men, and are able to do the job better, are stepped on and ignored? Overall, this essay in a way, touched me. I enjoyed it but it opened my eyes as to just how badly women are treated.
